This work has been created within the creative coding community; beginning with the creative coding environment, Processing.  Building upon open-source code created by coder and graphic designer Tim Rodenbroker[1], along with others working with Processing, accessible within Processing tutorials[2]. My learning has been that of coded assemblages; cutting and pasting lines from various sources by translating outcomes, rather than absorbing code (not necessarily by choice!). Corpse (Flower) on Little Bourke extends this creative coding practice and my looping assemblage by building a textile (material) object that is then folded into a virtual (material) space through the creative coding process. 

Utilising code as a practice for queering the normative, artist Wesley Dowling codes generative, looping digital works that move between representation and abstraction[3]. Corpse (Flower) on Little Bourke borrows from queer actions of disrupting the normative while firmly being situated within a posthuman framework; seeking to connect the human, botanical and technological. The unfolding virtual iteration has emerged from research into how posthuman frameworks can be used to reduce the domination of the anthropocene, leveraging the work of theorist Donna Haraway[4].  

Located within the expanded field of photography, Corpse (Flower) on Little Bourke, also responds to the work of artist and theorist Hito Steyerl and her notions of bruised images littering our world[5]. In its littered loops and folds, this work is also responding to those interrogating the networked nature of the digital image along with the performative implications of these emerging networks[6].
